The former General Electric (GE) Base Works site is a brownfield property in close proximity to downtown and an emerging river trail. The site has been vacant for years when GE demolished the complex consisting of several buildings.
Response
The redevelopment creates a series of parcels that limit the viability for big-box retail. An open space network is established under different development scenarios that ensure connectivity, balance open space and development and defines view corridors.
Results
The city is preparing an RFP process for development based on the framework plan.
