Built in the 1920’s, Stenton Trust is part of Sanford Maine’s historic Mill Yard. In 2017, a large fire badly damaged portions of the vacant building, requiring demolition of one of the two towers and the central, saw-tooth skylit portion of the structure.
OUR RESPONSE
Substantially reduced in size by the fire, the project became right-sized for adaptive reuse. A new circulation armature facilitates movement and addresses changes in elevation.
The Results
Initial design plans add approximately 100 units of workforce housing and a commercial component connecting two exterior plazas.
