The distance between Piqua’s downtown and its riverfront is less than it appears; the two are very close. Stronger connections are needed that enable the life and vitality of the Great Miami River and the regional trail network to link to downtown’s commercial core.
OUR RESPONSE
Anchored by a new riverfront park, the plan excavates the buried canal infrastructure and reorients the rear of buildings back into fronts, facing the right-of-way.
The Results
Implementation of the plan began with relocation of utility lines and demolition of a perimeter property wall in preparation for the construction of the park.
