The Longwood Medical Area (LMA) in Boston is one of the largest concentrations of medical institutions in the country. The institutional and cultural district is constrained geographically by residential neighborhoods, commercial corridors and the historic Olmsted Park system. Vehicular congestion is constant with limited public transit options.
OUR RESPONSE
Distinct institutional corridors are linked and rebranded as a continuous interconnected concourse level to advance institutional connectivity and provide places of respite.
The Results
Bus rapid transit improvements have been implemented to relieve traffic congestion and pedestrian amenities are activating interstitial spaces.
