Hartwell Avenue consists of many low-lying, mid-century office and lab buildings. Buildings along the corridor are set back from the street edge and surrounded by surface parking. The corridor lacks a mix of amenities and flexible floor plates needed in order to compete with more urban centers.
OUR RESPONSE
The strategy recommends zoning changes for greater building density and lower parking ratios. Extensive streetscape improvements enhance other modes of travel.
The Results
The plan enabled the passage of a rezoning initiative to enable a greater mix of uses, increased lot and area coverage and increased building height.
