Three miles of riverfront adjacent to the downtown contains a mix of active and abandoned industrial land, restricting neighborhood access to the river.
OUR RESPONSE
A series of open space “windows” orient new development perpendicular to the water while three parallel “ribbons” differentiate pedestrian, car and future light rail corridors.
The Results
A Form Based Code streamlined the approval process and spurred private investment. A new riverfront drive provides access to an eight-acre urban wild with riverwalk.
