An absence of signature open spaces and a prevalence of surface parking areas in downtown Dallas stymied economic development and hindered downtown pedestrian connectivity, with most pedestrian activity relegated to elevated bridges or below ground tunnels.
OUR RESPONSE
An urban design analysis identified more than two dozen surface parking lots whose transformation into an open spaces would be catalytic and form a network.
The Results
Through the collective efforts of the city and local foundations, five new downtown parks have been implemented since the completion of the plan.
